The Cortes Island Museum & Archives Fund
The mission of the Cortes Island Museum & Archives Society is to collect, preserve and present materialrelevant to the rich natural history, cultural development and evolution of Cortes Island and the surrounding region.
We invite visitors to "reflect" on this rich history, "imagine" past and future days, and "celebrate" this beautiful place we call home.
We offer year-round accessible and engaging exhibitions and programs that foster a strong sense of place with learning opportunities for all people.
We aim to build community dialogue by offering historical context to relevant contemporary issues.
The Museum is located within a historic building in the heart of downtown Manson's Landing.
It includes the Doreen Thompson Gallery with rotating exhibitions, outdoor displays, artifact collections, the Heritage Garden, a museum shop, and the designated Visitor Information Booth.
Our off-site Natural History Centreand EcoLab, Wild Cortes, has an exhibition gallery, permanent displays, and facilities to conduct scientific studies.
The Archives, located in the Museum, is the trusted repository for records and photographs of community organizations and island families. This original material is stored in climate-controlled conditions for long-term preservation and is accessible at the Museum and through our Online Archives.
