Grants-in-Aid

The Cortes Island Community Foundation, is working to assist with the review of the Grant-in-Aid funds for the 2024 calendar year. As with all of our granting processes, a volunteer jury made up of community members will make recommendations for the disbursement of these grants. The recommendations will be submitted to the Strathcona Regional District board by Regional Director, Mark Vonesch, for final consideration and anticipated endorsement in late October.

As in years past, the total GIA pool of funds are approximately $25,000 and are intended to benefit the community through support of the work of community social profits. The average grant award is in the range of $1000 – $5000 and will be dispersed by end of 2024.

This year’s Grant-in-Aid funding will prioritize projects supporting Arts, Culture and Environment. Applications outside these themes from organizations facing a particularly urgent need are welcome to apply and will be considered as well.

This years deadline is Monday October 21st at midnight. Applications should be done on the SRD fillable pdf and submitted to outreach@cortesfoundation.ca.

For questions, support, or help with your application please contact Andrea at andrea@cortesfoundation.ca.

All the fine print: The Strathcona Regional District used Cortes tax payer money for funding the Grants-in-Aid pool of money. They set the guidelines for eligibility. Please familiarize yourself with these requirements and the application at https://srd.ca/grant-in-aid/. As well, the Community Foundation further considers the standing of an organization based on past grants received and a Grant Report is required for eligibility before applying again.
